Gamescom this month and came with a 2016
release window.
Now publisher Take-Two has revealed that the
game won't launch until the company's next
fiscal year, meaning that the game is planned
for release between April 1st and December
31st 2016. To be honest, we'd have been
very surprised if it'd been any earlier, and we
expect the final date to be closer to the end
of the year. |
That's another way also of saying "we want to see if our shareholders
will also want to buy into this third game!"
The plus side is that it will give yet more time to iron out any bugs
improve on the performance and other such necessities.
Release date 1st quarter 2017 anyone! _________________

Historical Pulp Fiction: Haden Blackman on Mafia III
My favorite quote from the interview:
"You can drive around in boats."
Is that a first for the series? I know you couldn't drive boats in Mafia 2. IIRC, Mafia 1 was the same way.
Haden Blackman wouldn't say whether Mafia 3 will have collectible Playboys. That was a fan favorite feature of Mafia 2. Really made the game unique.
There was no mention of the game's economy. I assume Mafia 3 will have clothing shops, gun shops, garages, diners, and bars.
One of the main complaints about Mafia 2 was that the game's economy was weak. You could earn money, but there wasn't much point to it because there weren't big ticket items you could buy. Even small ticket items didn't require money.
Totaled your car? Just steal a new one.
Want a new set of clothes? See above.
Want guns or ammo? You guessed it. |

I hope (though I still am apprehensive; comes with
being a die-hard Mafia (Cosa Nostra) in gaming fan)
That there will be more buildings to enter and not
just when there is a mission to do and after that
the building is inaccessible and all we will be able to
enter are either clothes shops with the same people
(clones) also the same for weapon stores.
The last thing I want to do is just (between missions)
drive around-walk-drive around-walk (repeat and rinse)
regurgitation in games gets a bit ominous and boring.
Side quests that would increase replay value like in
Mafia CoLH - Something that the devs after butchering
Mafia II failed to include (still not surprised DV left).
Also I really do hope that the story does not look like
it's been hacked with a blunt butter knife and that there
is a flow that makes more sense than a eunuch trying
to start a family.

Haden Blackman has confirmed that Mafia 3 will have side quests. And he said they will tie in to the main story, unlike Mafia 2, where the side quests were a DLC disaster.
Here's a question for the community. Should Mafia 3 have multiple endings or stay with tradition and only have 1 ending?
Mafia 3 is breaking with tradition in a lot of ways. Might be a good time to introduce "choose your own adventure" endings.
Mafia 2 was supposed to have multiple endings, but they got cut in favor of one unsatisfying ending. |

Hmmm
*pauses*
Depends really; a good ending which would finalize the franchise
(in a positive way) would be good - I may be lynched for saying
this, but I hope they don't make a fourth game; what we don't
need is a get on the bandwagon of a game with the word "Mafia"
in the title.
However multiple endings should be rewarded with extras -
(free of course), depending on which one you choose;
like extra missions or certain areas unlocked.
But the main thing is that the game can happily be played
over and over again giving the player the choice of how
he/she will go i.e. which path they take. _________________

Anyone know, what is the exact date or month of Mafia-3 release?
And as your mind comparison which game will be more realistic and have better graphics? Mafia 3 or GTA V |

How would we know, we don't work for Hangar 13
or Take-Two the publishers.

*So you don't pin your hopes up that is the
end of 2016 not the end of this year*
Also let's not get into a GTA V verses Mafia III debate.
If you want to discuss GTA V go to Games Off-Topic
and here for discussions on Mafia III. _________________

A post-credits scene would be nice. |

What if Mafia 4 took place in Lost Heaven? That's my hope for the 4th game. Hopefully Mafia 3 is such a smashing success that it motivates them to make a 4th.
There just aren't very many mafia video games. Aside from the two Godfather games (which were mediocre), and Omerta, which sucked. By far, the best mafia games in video game history are Mafia 1 and 2. There's not much to choose from:
List of gangster games
What I'm trying to say is the Mafia games help fill an unfilled niche in video games.

It's too early for an exact release date. I would guess Mafia 3 will be released either in late 2016 or early 2017. I wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed back to 2017. 2016 is an ambitious time frame.
As for your second question, Mafia 3 will have much more detailed graphics than GTA 5. I play GTA 5, and while the graphics are good for the series, they're really on par with Mafia 2, which was released 5 years ago.
I've noticed that the apartment interiors in GTA 5 are bland, low resolution affairs. I think Mafia 2's apartment interiors are actually nicer.
The Mafia games have always had superior graphics.
Mafia 1 had better graphics than GTA 3.
Mafia 2 had better graphics than GTA 4.
And Mafia 3 will have better graphics than GTA 5. |

Draconian: you obviously do not read any posts by
Staff Members. I did say that we do not want
a GTA V verses Mafia III debate. The last thing we
want for this topic to be inundated with "which one
is better?" This section of the forums under
Mafia/Mafia II and Mafia III are for discussions
on the Mafia games.
Also I have merged your second post this evening
with your first post at 11:31pm. Please next time
if you have anything to add use the edit button.
*NOTICE TO ALL*
Please for the sake of keeping this thread related
to Mafia III and it's forthcoming release - let's
keep it to discussions on its release. Once the
game is finally here, then by all means start a
topic on GTA V v Mafia III or vice-versa.
Thanks _________________
