Still trying to work out how to use the build option.

I also came across some more bugs, sometimes
the HUD (and no I was not using the console command tm)
disappears, the pipboy doesn't come up when pressing Tab
and dialogue wheel goes. I have to exit the game and then
restart again. lol

Nice pics Rob btw.

[Infill] I found that playing the game with a mixture of ultra
and high (1920 x 1080) works ok with me (average about 40fps).
Yes I could reduce the resolution down to 1600 x 900 but problem
is that the launcher thinks I want to play in window mode and the
game (when you try fullscreen) looks like shit.. Laughing and who nowadays
plays at 1280 x 720 Sheesh! [/end Infill}

Still been experimenting with settings for this game.
I disabled "Annie So Tropic" I can still see objects
at a reasonable distance. Plus it looks more realistic
a slight haze which is normal. No anti aliasing in the
launcher panel now done in Nvidia Control Panel.
Anyway this is what my settings are

FO4 Launcher:
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Aunty Alia Sing: Off
  • Annie So Tropic Phil Tering: Off
    Advanced Options:
  • Texture Quality: Ultra
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Shadow Distance: Medium
  • Lighting Quality: High
  • Godrays Quality: Off
  • Depth of Field: Standard (Low)
  • Ambient Occlusion: Off
  • Screen Space Reflections: On
  • Wetness: On
  • Rain Occlusion: On
  • Motion Blur: Off
  • Lens Flare: Off

Nvidia Settings:
  • Aunty Alia Sing: 4 x
  • Maximum Pre-rendered Frames: 1
  • Virtual Reality pre-rendered frames: 3D Application setting

Tweaked the ini files to disable VSync, Mouse acceleration, FOV
and other bits.

The important thing is actually playing the game, not necessarily
all the eye-candy; though that is nice. The thing is with careful
optimization the game can still look really good but at a playable
frame-rate and performance.

In my last post I stated that I was averaging 44 frames per second
now I am averaging between 50 - 80 depending on area input and
stress on CPU and GPU. The most stress (and probably why it is
used in benchmarking) is Diamond City - dropped down to around
35 fames per second, but still playable.

Specs:
  • CPU: Intel i7-4771 @ 3.5GHz (Turbo Boost to 3.9GHz)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR 3
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 780M 4GB DDR 5

I reinstalled the game a few days back in the Games folder
(C:\Boot Camp\Games) which handles 64bit better. This
was after reinstalling Steam in the same folder rather than
in (C:\Boot Camp\Program Files (x86) ), this was
recommended by the people at Nexus. And the game
does run better tbh.

I laughed a bit too hard at reading about Alia and Annie. Laughing

Doesn't look bad if you ask me. Of course still, the game itself uses 5 year old graphics so it's hard to make it look worse. Sticking out tongue
I recommend installing the cinematic excellence mod together with the darker nights mod. It adds so much more atmosphere to the game:

Now the nights actually look like nights instead of late afternoons during winter. Funny thing, the graphics enhancer also works on Mafia. Sticking out tongue

I like how you can find full suits. Unfortunately it doesn't really fit well on the female character. Looks a bit out of shape.

You should wait til the male character starts wearing
a laundered dress with high heels. Laughing

Did a few more tweaks, i.e. turning up this and turning
down that sort of thing. Decided to try a bit of Annie
So Tropic 4 x and TAA.. yeah would try another FX
mod was thinking of the one that sharpens the foliage
as this tends to look blurred with TAA applied.

Thing is Rob I have the Darker Nights and the improved
night vision for scopes. Would the cinematic one put too
much on the GPU or is there no drop in fps?

Still hoping there will be another patch, especially if they
start releasing DLC's next year.

I did not notice any difference in framerate, but my game is also capped at 60FPS or it would not work properly. It's all post processing effects anyway and AFAIK it's only bloom and color correction. The latter requires no additional GPU power. Only bloom would, but barely noticeable on performance I reckon.

Thanks for reminding me - whoever discovered a way of turning off
the limiter in the fallout4prefs.ini file also said that it was advisable to
turn on VSync in the GPU settings, which I now have and yeah the
game was locked at 60FPS; drops a bit on more adhanced situations
but there was no lagging and only one minor stutter. So I wondered
to myself hmm my iMac is 1440p so increased to 2560 x 1440 and
no changes made to the other settings and the game is running at
approximately 60FPS

Mods I have installed are
Darker Nights (Darker)
Fallout 4 Texture Optimization
FO4 Rain (this increases the rain)
Even Louder Rainy Sound

I would like it if you could turn your character
right round to face you even with a weapon
armed and then shoot in you direction; a notice
then pops up saying "Oh dear! You have just
shot the player behind the keyboard. Please
wait until a suitable replacement arrives."

Getting really hooked tbh. The graphics should
have (without having to install enhancements)
been a lot better. And the waste of so called
texture settings are a waste of GPU resources.

It would be interesting to see what Bethesda
will come up with when they release the Modding
Tool and their own mods for the game. I hope
they will be as good (not the same) as the ones
for FO3 and one or two in FNV.

Hey there,

I'm also playing FO4 with the Cinematic Excellence ReShade (and am loving it). Today I decided I'd install one my all-time favorite games (Mafia ofc) and am currently figuring out which mods to install to make it even better. I tried installing ReShade to it but can't get it working for some reason. I downloaded the ReShade framework and moved the "ReShade" folder to my Mafia game folder. Then I copied the Cinematic Excellence presets and dxgi.dll and ReShade.fx to the game folder according to the instructions. Didn't work. Also tried renaming dxgi.dll to d3d9.dll, d3d8.dll and opengl32.dll. Nothing worked. Thinking And I'm all out of ideas by now...

by all means discuss Fallout 4 as this forum is games off-topic.
However if you want to discuss which mods to use in Mafia
please do so in the Mafia section especially Mafia Mod Help

*can we please keep this thread about Fallout 4*

Got D3DGear a day or so ago on Steam as I was
told it was better than FRAPS which tended to make
any game (and especially Fallout 4) lag and I mean
laaaaaaaag!. So did a test recording of FO4

Resolution: 1920x1080
Antialiasing: TAA
Anisotropic Filtering: 12 Samples
Texture Quality: Ultra
Shadow Quality: Medium
Shadow Distance: Medium
Decal Quality: Medium
Lighting Quality: High
Godrays Quality: Off
DoF: Standard(Low)
Ambient Occlusion: SSAO(High)
Screen Space Reflections: On
Wetness: On
Rain Occlusion: On
Motion Blur: Off
Lens Flare: Off

Object Fade: 5 notches up
Actor Fade: 4 notches up
Grass Fade: 5 notches up
Item Fade: 6 notches up

Distance Object Detail: Medium
Object Detail Fade: Medium

iMac Late 2013 version 27"
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4771 @3.5GHz(Turbo Boost 3.9GHz)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 780M
RAM: DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz 204-pin SODIMM 16GB
Disk Drive: 3TB Fusion Drive + 128GB SSD (in one)
Windows 10 Home Premium on Boot Camp

Maybe it's me, but I don't see the point in stating that a game
must have the most expensive components to play at ultra
settings when apart from godrays at ultra maybe or putting on
lens flare the texture quality is not a lot of difference between
medium, high and ultra. The only difference is shadow quality
low is very pixelated an ultra is smooth but a resource hogger
so I set it to medium. No the iMac is not the best for gaming
but it works. So until I can get another PC and then uninstall
Boot Camp and restore the Mac to its original state with os x
I am having to make do atm.

BTW: I really hate the term "I can play with all settings 'maxed out'. "
From the settings above I don't think it looks that bad tbh and at
the end of the day it is the game itself that is more important than
measuring dick sizes (theoretically speaking of course).

not sure why this is happening - this is when
I either jump in water or shoot at it. Instead
of the splash effect I get these magenta
coloured boxes

Duh! Oops! I worked it out (usually happens)
It was a no fog mod or something along those
lines that was causing this bizarre volumetric
effect.

Gotta say the game is playing very fast
with the new PC.

If anyone's interested, I recently made a short video showcasing my current Fallout 4 overall looks (and gameplay) with a bunch of different mods installed: here's my Fallout 4 Visual Setup (March 2016) - Spoiler Alert -

Oh, and some screenshots can be found here

I have to say the modding community is doing wonders with the game even though it is still very new and even the GECK hasn't come out yet. Can't wait for the quest mods to start rolling in though...

Next time if your footage contains spoilers, please mention it contains spoilers. Not everyone has completed the game yet. Thank you.

I've added it behind the video's name.

Oh sorry, I didn't thought that this would be considered a spoiler since in older Fallout games you could kill everyone... valid point now though with some of the NPC's being immortal. Would have been safer just sticking with footage of unnamed NPC's.

Anyways, in case you are not familiar with the specific situation in question, I can assure you: the footage does not tell the whole story and this outcome is only one of the multiple possible outcomes

Admittedly, I ain't no saint either when it comes to accidentally spoiling something, so it's no biggie. I'm just bumped so many things got spoiled lately.
Within the first day of FO4's release, someone already publicly posted the game's ending and the final decision the player has to make in relation to the storyline.
Basically no movie or game can remain unspoiled nowadays. When Mafia 3 comes out, I'll be isolating myself from the internet until I completed the game. Because if it happens, I give it 1 hour before the first fool posts a message or video somewhere: "OMG VITO DIES IN MAFIA 3!!!!!" or something like that.

I guess it's also partially thanks to let's play channels to which it's viewers simply browse through the interesting bits of the game, not caring about spoilers because they just want to see some ADHD kid shoot some stuff. So they project the same disregard of spoilers towards people who actually do care.
Some time ago, I was playing GTA V. A friend of my brother was watching while he was waiting for him. When he saw me play he casually mentioned "oh, and at the end you have to decide which one of the three you kill." Thanks mate. Absolutely perfect... Luckily for that game there was an alternative to that decision.

Anyways, back to the video you made. I do like the editing you've done. Choreographing images to music is always a plus in my book. Thumbs up (left)
