What antivirus are you using and do you have
it set to heuristic scanning? The problem with
this is that it will say it has detected a virus
when there is no virus. A classic example of
this is in game trainers (that is a trainer that
changes the way a game plays like adding
cheats; god mode etc.

I have scanned all elements of checkbin editor
both with ZoneAlarm, AVG and Spybot S&D
and there are no viruses.

Have you heard of false positives? This is is what is happening
here. I have just done a multi scan with several antivirus' and
there is only a few who give a false positive, and they
are not all the same result.

Avast: Win32:Malware-gen

AntiVir: TR/Agent.23040.509

ClamAV: PUA.Win32.Packer.D1s1g-4

Ikarus: BehavesLike

and so on

I have been reading some posts regarding Avast and a lot of
people are getting false positives even for legitimate game.exe
files or whatever the game is and are thinking of removing
Avast from their computers.

Kaspersky is a very well known and trusted security suite and
their antivirus is very good. It found no virus or malware in
checkbin editor.

A false positive is when your virus scanner
detects a file as a virus, even when it really isn’t a virus, and
then tries to quarantine or delete that file. If you’ve read about
the recent McAfee fiasco, you’ll begin to see the problem —
they released a virus definition update that detected internal
Windows files as a false positive, deleted them, and then
suddenly Windows couldn’t boot anymore. Antivirus software
is not perfect.

Some virus scanners also employ an additional line of defense
called heuristic analysis, which attempts to identify new forms
of malware right away by scanning for smaller sections of code
that might indicate some bad behaviour, even if the virus has
never been detected before. Unfortunately, because this
method is not exact, it also will detect a lot of files as viruses
incorrectly.

Avast is known for occasionally detecting false positives. I use Avast as well. It's a fine tool, but when it detects a "virus" I'm just ignoring it on good faith.
If 90% of the users are having no virus warnings, and nothing has affected your system after you've installed the tool, then there's no virus. Else you would have known about it almost instantly.

Recently Avast also detected legit Ship Simulator core files as a virus. You don't want to know how much support tickets I received for this issue, telling people it's all fine and harmless.
