Sound not fading out in distance

So I've inserted a 'distance' type sound in BSV, but instead of fading out the further away you get (like it's supposed to) it just stays at the same volume and simply just stops when you reach a certain distance away.

Quite frustrating and it sounds awful when it happens in game, has anyone ever had this? Thinking

This happens when the sound file has two audio channels (stereo). You have to make it mono.

Hmm.. so even if it's an original game sound (not a custom one) you still have to do that?

I used a sound from mission 18 and in that mission it worked fine, just not in my new mission, that's the only reason I ask.

All I can think of is create a proximity script that measures your distance from the sound source that will fade the sound source when you a x distance away and restore it when you are close....but even that isn't fading.


when I get home tonight I will dig into it.
