After I have downloaded and installed a Fiat Ritmo to Mafia I've noticed that it's doors are opening into inside of the car:

Here is a view from Zmodeler:

Can somebody help me to make the doors open correctly?

The doors will open correctly, if the axis is set to the leading edge of the doors where you want to pivot them.
To move only the axis try this:
Go to the "Top View" window in Zmod 1.
In the Menu bar, highlight only the [V] vertical button.
Bring up only the "DOOR0" view in the "Objects Menu".
Go to the "Tool Box", and bring up this menu:
"Display/LocalAxis/Move"
Then go to t he "Top View" and move your cursor vertically down,
till the axis is at the forward edge of the door. Check the side view
to make sure it is correct.
Repeat process for all the "DOOR_" objects in the menu.
Voila

Thanks for your advice, I'll try it later! Wink
Now I'm working on Fiat Uno Turbo which I've converted from GTA:VC. Most things are done for now, but there are few problems with it:
1. The car is levitating.
2. Some elements in interior aren't visible.
3. The bumpers are in game in car body colour, but in Zmodeler they are grey.

Can somebody also help me with this one?

The car is levitating because the "body" dummy is not low enough to bring the car down to the the axis [X] line in Zmoldeler. Check your opacity sliders on the bumpers and make sure u use the "unused" in the material "type" box. For solid textures in Mafia 1 sliders should be:
Shine= all the way to the right
Size= all the way to the left
Opacity= all the way to the right.

I took the dummys from Schubert Extra Six Tudor and everythings works fine now.
I noticed that the car has two textures with the same name. Primary body.tga is for car colour and secondary body.tga is for bumpers and other plastic parts colour. How can I separate both textures?

The game primarily uses .bmp. If you want to segregate textures,
just rename them. Say that the main color is UBERBLU.bmp. If you want
to use it again in another place rename it UBERBLU01.bmp. The game
only recognizes the texture once, and if it is used elsewhere it will use
that color there. A good example is the dashboard on cars from NFS.
They all say "dash00.bmp" . So a dash from one of their Chevrolets is
gonna have the same name as one from a Dodge, even though they are
completely different. Now Mafia will only read one "dash00.bmp" and assign it to every car you put in from NFS. To correct this all you need to do is change
the name of the texture:
Dashboard for a Chevrolet ="chevdash00.bmp"
Dashboard for a Dodge= "dodgdash00.bmp" and so on.
These are changed in the "material editor" of Zmodeler when you click the add texture button. Just change the name of the file before you add it to Zmod.


p.s. Some textures have several texture in one .bmp. If you have say the bumper, and you want it chrome instead of black, you will have to retexture it in Zmodeler by using another .bmp and assign it to the bumper in the material editor. I have gone to using just one solid color for my cars instead of a map of the design of the car since it makes for a more brilliant and clean
paint job than using a colored map of the car.

@MM9mm: What happens if all the sliders are pushed to the right? That's what I usually do for my building models.

It will work with all the sliders pushed to the right.

I have just become accustomed to doing the size all the way to the left.
If you want transparency though you will have to move the Opacity some
where in the middle or closer to the left side to do things such as windows,
[or a transparent car like in the one that is parked inside the fence in the
housing project near Pete's gunshop]. When using transparency you
also need to set the alfa parameter type to "glowing".
