Not sure if this is possible to achieve and
may be because I play Mafia at a resolution
of 2560 x 1440. So each cutscene has
thick black bars top and bottom. I could
try converting them using Freemake VC
but not sure if they would work in the game
once replaced. Any suggestions and tips
would be welcome. Smile

The black bars seem to be generated by the recloadfull command. Previously I thought they were embedded in each individual .rep cutscene file found in RECORDS, but using the command without specifying any .rep cutscene at the end (i.e. recloadfull "") still results in black bars.
So yeah, I think the command given above probably generates them, but not sure about removal. Maybe something in the Hex? That's about my two cents on the subject Thinking

Yoish! Oops! sounds a bit too complicated the only other
thing I can but hazard at a guess that also along with
things like the weapons reticle/crosshair they are also
hidden within the game.exe and are not the same as
the avi files for the logos.

However I am sure there must be someone who knows
how to do this. Some time ago there was a mod where
you could play Mafia in black & white like an old 1930s
movie this also included the cutscenes including the
prologue and intermezzos etc; therefore it must be
possible to edit these files... well in theory that is.

I think you're right about that, MafiaScript commands are hardcoded into Game.exe.

My mod has a black-and-white menu, but I haven't seen the mod you're referring to. As you say though, I would think someone must be able to do this.

Off-topic but IIRC Max Payne 2 had a mod called 'The Family' which was all in black and white and looked gorgeous.
