You did not see our wonderful memes which we kept making out of Harry’s initiative to keep ourselves relatively sane and which were supposed to keep you reading. Until now. Because Onedrive is horrible, urls are not static and the embed function doesn’t work. Different service is used now. Sorry folks. The gallery with renders on Onedrive works though... |

Well, I don’t like to dissemble - and we really did not like the thing. Maybe it was important to mention since we want people to contribute, but if you read it in the context of the whole text, you might get a different outcome.: There are two approaches towards improving the in-game graphics. Either make as much as you can while not being so true to the original game - and make something not-so-good looking for people like me - but on the other hand complete, or do it "perfectly" and never finish.
I tried to write why we chose our way and this statement was part of it, but I knowingly don’t support it with facts, just with opinions. Hence it’s still a matter of choice, only I prefer sincerity before correctness. But since you commented about it, I shall add: It goes without saying, that there are almost no efforts in game modding for which their authors wouldn’t deserve appreciation - if merely for the time they spent on it.
Also, I like that you keep the different parts separated, so that even picky morons like me can choose.  |

I couldn’t agree more! As mentioned in the original post, the problem here is that nobody will join us and we don’t have time anymore (for now at least), so the only thing this mod will ever be is a memorial to those who wanted to do it right. But if you’re willing to make a building, you will get our full cooperation. As far as characters are concerned, to quote the original post: "It’s not possible to create characters. Bones are lost when exporting to .4ds. Period." So much for that. This beauty needs a new engine... Anybody has a few extra million dollars? |

sadly I'm not modeller , and sad that tommy couldn't even get normal fingers , everything all i can do is only watching your progress and admire some work :/ |

Hopefully there will be a way to export to another program without losing the bones. I don't know a thing about modeling, but could it be possible to recreate the bones in .4ds or use a substitute? How are the bones lost in the first place? |

No. I’m not quite sure where the problem is, since I discussed it with Harry a long time ago and the conversations are already scrapped, however: Though I’m not sure what happens when importing the .4ds file, the bones are definitely lost on export. That is either when exporting from Zmodeler or when using the 4ds export script for 3ds Max. Those are (for now) the only two ways of exporting .4ds and the "bug" is present in both of them. As far as substitutes are concerned, there aren’t any. Either you have a skeleton or you don’t. You can cut the character into individual submeshes and then it will work (that is you will be able to move), but then the individual pieces aren’t joined - as I already mentioned earlier in the thread. That's unfortunate. Well, hopefully one day there will be a way to improve the character models. Oh and I remember seeing the Claude model sometime ago, it looked pretty cool. |
