Hi, is there any way to open Mafia .4ds characters like Tommy.4ds in Zmodeler? Thanks to reply.

This question seems to have been asked repeatedly.
In the initial state is impossible. ZModeler v1.07b is unable to open rigging and other types of 4ds file object types. It makes no sense to do this, except for viewing texture mapping and mesh topology. To do this, you need to understand the structure of the 4ds file. Using Hex, delete all bones and other objects, leave only the character model itself - base, specify the number of objects - 01, and the standard type of object - 0100002A, add a couple of zeros at the end of the file. Then using Boz4dsFullManager make "Convert object" - "Make Zmodelerable". Now the file can be opened in ZModeler v1.07b. An example of a 4ds file "distorted" to such a state: Tommy_for_zmod.4ds

If you follow the forum threads "World's first proper custom Mafia character" and "Updated 4ds plugin for 3ds Max (by pudingus)", then it’s clear that there is no way. By answered, addons for 3D Max are created only because it was founded by Mr.F. Otherwise, I don’t know any reason why to use such a cumbersome editor as 3D Max, if there is an easy to use Blender with full rigging functionality and everyone else. But addons still continue to create only for 3D Max.
