Issue that seems to only occur on certain "layover" textures. An example is the sign for the gas station.

The main reason I am concerned by this is I want to do something in Chameleon, which has these giant posters on walls that flicker and disappear partially into walls like crazy.

This is probably just a driver issue, but maybe someone here has an idea.

Settings

Also if you happen to know what the newest nVidia driver that eliminates this is, that would be helpful.

Thanks

Settings need to be done according to your hardware. What?

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to have a log.txt in your game folder? If so, do you mind posting its contents?

Hm OK, looks fine. I thought Mafia might use a weird depth buffer format or something but it looks alright. Sad

How about this? Take a sniper rifle to Salieri's and look at the gas station through the scope. Does this happen?

Yes, this flickers for me, too. From what I can tell it also flickers in MWE so I guess the depth buffer resolution is simply not enough for the given geometry at that distance. Thinking

I'm going to blame it all on drivers. Here is what I am unhappy about in Chameleon.

As you can see, it happens at close distances also. Confused

Oh dear. Sad

If I were to guess, I'd say it's a driver issue. The problem could possibly be addressed by tweaking depth biases or something but that would require some RE I guess.

Have you already tried running the game (or Mafia for that matter) with dgVoodoo's d3d8 -> 9 wrapper?

Yes. No effect or CTD.

I guess all I can do is try the oldest drivers that will go on my card, and if that doesn't do it, this card is basically partially incompatible with these games. Sucky answer; upgrading your card is supposed to make games better, but eh. AGP was a long time ago.

Someone liked my private video Sticking out tongue Good, a lot of effort went into it!
