The map editor by Greavesy has been released. You can use the editor to delete objects, move objects, edit collisions, import new models etc.

It is very experimental! Further updates are expected.

Also note that there have been numerous attempts to bring traffic to the added LH map. It is surely interesting to see at least some traffic there, but it is bugged, unfortunately. Hopefully Greavesy will figure out all problems when he comes back from his holiday.

There is more important news:

agens has made a tutorial video on how to convert maps into Mafia 2 using Zmodeler 3. I suggest that YOU make a map convert. The more M2 modders, the better.

Another breaktrhough!

Greavesy has achieved what was thought to be impossible. New collisions (created in Zmodeler) can now be fixed with his tool so they are basically 1:1 with Mafia 2s.

No bugs with collisions anymore!

In the past, it was thought that converting skinned models was rather impossible.

But it is possible, Sliderv2, a M2 youtuber, made a few skinned models and they do look great! He used Zmodeler 3.

Moreover, Greavesy has recently allowed us to add new translocators with his toolkit. Translocators are things such as rubbish bins, telephone boots, lamps, lights, billboards etc.

Szymon has written a wiki on translocators, it is very well written and also with screenshots.

This is object group number 4, for other object groups look for pages on the right.

The map convert of LH is being updated. It is gonna be a big update. Almost all interiors from missions from M1 should be also available in M2 on the LH map. Agens has added already a lot of places that I exported for him. A few places like the Saliery's bar will be functional. Szymon is working on placing translocators on the map.

ALL INTERIORS AND MISSION PLACES FROM MAFIA 1 HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO MAFIA 2! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! Including warehouses.

Good news is also that agens has found a way to add reflections to materials. So windows of buildings now emit light reflection and at night the windows are lit.

Also new types of lighting have been found, they were added by Szymon:


Also roads are now capable of reflecting the world.



Greavesy also may have just enabled us to export maps with correct positions of actors. This new feature of his toolkit is still being tested.

A few versions of the mod have been already released, the new version is being finished now, I think it is worth waiting for the latest version, because there are so many enhancements and new things to see. You can download an older version, google this "The City of Lost Heaven Map v. 3.1.2" and download it from playground or game-mafia2 or another site, a quick note for non-Russian speakers: "скачать" means "download".

Keep in mind though, that this version 3.1.2 DOES NOT include any crash objects (lamps with light, trees from M2, bins etc.), neither does it include new materials with reflection as shown above and it doesn't not include many interiors + other things and features. The new version may be therefore worth waiting. Consider it for yourself whether it is worth waiting or better to play an older version right-away. I think the new version may be released within a month.

I have been seeing that youtubers finally find out about the mod and start making videos with the LH map mod, but unfortunately, they usually record the older versions, even when I told them, they would still record the older versions.
For youtubers, this information above is probably more relevant.

i certainly will wait for the next release.I tried to install one of the versions into the game; problem being that it asked for several extensions i can't seem to find in the files when i tried to install/ use the material merger. The map for m1 showed up semi attached to the m2 map but it confused the heck out of me lol; none the less I was still impressed. Sadly though now that I tried to install it unsuccessfully, the tunnels are acting as elevators in one direction and a massive speed-bump in the other. I'll figure it out yet; in the mean time I just keep loving playing the game. Thanks again for all you do with the game

I have some big news to share with you.

Firstly here are some screens from the convert of Lost Heaven into Mafia 2:





















Other improvements: agens has added new sounds, both in the countryside and in the city.

Another breakthrough in the modding of M2 has been achieved.

A NEW CUSTOM WEAPON has been added into the game!

The weapon model was converted by Mafel (superplayercz).



That is not all!

Greavesy, the author of the toolkit for Mafia 2, has been trying to convert the GTA III map into the world of Mafia 2 with his converter. Pretty much all you see was converted automatically, he just had had to extract GTA III files. It is still work in progress.

This has absolutely blown me away. I never thought I would ever see a map expansion to Mafia II, let alone one with ALL OF Mafia: City of Lost Heaven in it, complete with destructible objects, reflections, lights, and sounds from Mafia II. This is absolutely mindblowing. I can't wait to play this mod, and I am looking forward to seeing more updates in the future! Applause
