I've done some more searching but it seems I've hit the ceiling for now. :/ I know some are still missing since I've previously only found thumbnails of them, but in case anyone thinks they found any new ones, feel free to post them here on contact me and they can be added into the collection. |

The progress that they made within just one year from clumsy low poly characters and low res textures to what we finally got is amazing. Can’t believe that in a few years this game is 20 years old. And I still occasionally play some of my favorite missions from time to time. That nostalgia. Priceless.
Thank you very much for sharing these screenshots! |

Here's a couple new ones I found recently:
Outside Prosecutor's vila at night.
Proto-Tommy in Works quarter, it seems. Notice the Manta prototype car on the right.
Black Schubert Extra Six (is this color still in the final? I forgot) in Little Italy?
This is probably between beta and final. Notice it's missing the transmission type and speed unit indicators on the vehicle HUD. Also green cars on the radar instead of white, like in the beta.
And this is probably an actual beta screenshot. Green cars on the radar, different compass arrow, same speedometer differences as above, and looks like a different trunk texture for the Falconer Taxi.
Sadly this one's only a thumbnail (for now), but you can see the light green Schubert Extra Six and the old HUD.
I've also replaced a few screens with better versions and removed a couple duplicates. And a while ago I also added all the trailers/pre-release videos I could find. |

Made some more changes:
* new screens added
* some screens replaced
* some duplicates removed
* renamed many screens so the date they were first published is known
* added more videos
Obviously some screens are from alpha or earlier, but were only published in 2002 (according to what I could find anyway), when they were already outdated. But regardless, it gives us an approximate time frame of the screens.
April and May 2000 were the initial announcement screens (possibly from E3 2000 as well), September 2000 is likely from ECTS 2000, May 2001 is obviously E3 build or related, November 2001 is Alpha related, February-March 2002 is Beta related, then June and later 2002 are pre-final. |

I notice these cars have 0 miles on them! (Not randomized)
Funny little detail they took care of. There's so many games that don't give a damn about something like an odometer, but good old MAFIA has it covered. |

Crazy to see how the game looked like in alpha/beta. Would pay money to play these versions to see, what they cut during the development.
Sometimes when I'm bored I go to the sounds folder and play the different sounds to see if there is some cut content.
I guess most of them are already known (for example Sarah who is saying that shes just cooking).
I´ve found some other sounds, after the Epilog where a guy (sounds like Vincenzo or Salvatore) is saying "Tom, we are not doing this, we are not killing cops" or "A dead cop, that brings misfortune"
Have to say that I´m using the german version, I don't know if there are other sounds in other versions. All I can say is, that there are a lot unused lines in the german version (also a guy who sounds like a radio host, who is talking about Hitler)
Hope we will find some screenshots or videos soon, maybe we are able to find out, what the developers planed to do. |

Time for a compilation of Paulie's death variants
The earliest one seems to be this, published already in May 2000. Oddly enough, Paulie's in his final outfit here, not in the brown suit, and his face also seems closer to the final for some reason.
In September this alternate placement of his body was published. The rest of the room looks to be pretty much the same, so these were both probably taken from the same scene running on the Insanity engine.
At some point before E3 2001 a promo video featuring Dan Vavra was made, which includes a brief shot of Paulie's death on the sidewalk, probably in front of his apartment. And right after that the first screenshot I posted above is shown as well. Same two shows can be seen in the promo video with music, also from around that time.
Based on the HUD this one's from the E3 2001-Alpha timeframe. Most of the room still looks the same aside from the wall, but now we got brown Paulie on the bed again. Tommy also wore his hat during the final mission (also seen in screenshots of him in the gallery).
Another evolution to showcase: the Schubert Extra Six, as it seems to be one of the cars that underwent the most changes throughout the development.
The first variant to be revealed is the police one during the first batches of screenshots in 2000. Notice the shiny reflections cars used to have at the time. It also appears in the two videos I linked above.

Early screenshots from September 2000 also feature an all-black variant that was eventually dropped.
.jpg)
In the E3 2001 promo we first see an all-green variant, which was also dropped sometime after the Alpha. It's also driven in one of the 2001 gameplay videos (likely between E3 and Alpha).

At some point in 2001, the blue variant was introduced, which survived into the final game.

Around Beta time a white variant with green fenders appeared. This one was dropped as well soon after.

The last variants to appear are white with red fenders and green with black fenders, both survived into the final version and are also featured in some trailers from 2002.
