Wonder if 2K would come up with releasing a mobile port of, at the very least, the original Mafia game (It's theoretically possible to do one for Mafia II, but that wouldn't be viable unless if more Tegra K1 or similar SOC devices hit the market). The only thing complicating matters is the LS3D engine being, um, a little inefficient imo, as the level-based design didn't fare well for sandbox open-world games due to memory issues and load times. I mean, look at what happened with the PS2/Xbox ports - The Getaway and GTA managed to do a reasonably detailed city by streaming contents from disk, while Mafia dumped stuff into memory the old-fashioned way. |

I think both Mafia 1 and 2 must need to be available for Android and windows phone. |

I don't think 2K'd want to take interest about first mafia, because they have a lot of other plans and making it is not rewarding for them. Also, if thewy would want to make Mafia II portable, if they wouldn't change graphics, it would be some "benchmark" for portable devices |

It would be possible to run Mafia II, at least on a Tegra K1, in low to medium details.
2K had their China studio port the original Bioshock, and from what I can tell, they watered down the graphics a tad. In some cases it looked like a Wii game with the lack of character shadows and specular. |

@huckleberrypie, that's why I think "portabling" PC/console games is stupid - for what I could play ugly game on my smartphone, If I can play beautiful game on my PC/console? |

Precisely!
And in any case it just wouldn't do the game justice; Mafia CoLH
was intended for the bigger screen. The entire game would not
work on a smartphone..and Android Jellybean
(although I have a Sony Xperia P) is not the best OS to be honest. _________________

You can aim via virtual analogue stick, but I do agree that control schemes in most mobile games do leave a LOT to be desired.
Graphics-wise it wouldn't be difficult for an average phone to render Lost Heaven in all its glory, but the game's map system may have to be redesigned to suit low-memory devices. Also, with that comes the issue of whether mods for the PC will still work like with the mobile GTAs. |
