Can my PC run Mafia?

Postby MafiaFan440 » Mon Feb 08, 2010 2:26 am

Hi, i'm new here. I got the PS2 version of Mafia when it came out and boy,did it suck! The PC version, on the other hand...looks phenomenal.I just brought a copy off Amazon and I am awaiting it's delivery.I have a crappy PC however, so i'm unsure what settings I'll be able to run it at.I'm looking forward to Mafia 2,btw.
Here are my specs:
Processer: Intel Celeron M Processer
RAM: 504MB RAM
Graphic Card:Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset
Sound Device:Realtek HD Audio rear output

Well, there they are. My comp sucks. :$ :P

I reckon your PC can play Mafia in mid-low settings. I would highly recommend you to buy a new graphics card for your pc. It would completely change your gaming experience. I am assuming your pc has an AGP slot for the video card. You can pick up a good card for less than $80 ( example- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150433&cm_re=4650_agp-_-14-150-433-_-Product )

Better still, if budget permits, buy a new pc :) A dualcore setup with 2gb ram and a decent graphics card should not break the bank- roughly around $350 - $400 for such a setup.

I was thinking a dualcore/ 8600GT would be good.

Pretty much any card made since 2004 should be enough, though you will probably want to consider how well Mafia II would run, since that is coming through. Chips in general won't be enough.

While we don't know what the specs are for mafia II as of yet, id suggest at least a dual core, 2-3 gbs of ram and a 512mb Graphics card, preferably a 1gb one. Don't take that as certain, we don't know anything of yet. If you unsure of anything don't forget to check out the Mafiascene FAQ :D

I can run the game on High settings, no problem. Aside from a few FPS drops while driving, and the textures in the distance having that smeared look, it's fine.
Funnily enough, I am gonna get a custom-build gaming PC to replace my current crappy slimline HP PC.
